Today’s post will be a short but very important one.

Many of us begin the new year with resolutions and goals. Before we set out to make resolutions and goals, it’s worth pausing to look in the rear-view mirror at the experience and lessons of the year we completed.

A few weeks ago, we got an expected but unwelcome letter notifying us that our escrow account needed attention. Our home insurance rate was going up. Oh, joy! (Yes, I’m being sarcastic.) A few calls and a few hours later, we successfully negotiated our insurance premium, saving ourselves an impressive $1k. Oh, joy! (No sarcasm).

Tip: Get at least 3 quotes from different insurance companies. In addition to the rate, review the coverage and deductions.
